Blogs - Ladybug_Travels's blog - Posts14th Century - oh, so long ago (we can't remember it), but you can experience your own Wedding in the Loire Valley in a castle just waiting for you and your friends and family! And, you can either arrive in a horse drawn carriage to the Chapel....or choose to escape after the ceremony in that horse drawn carriage for a "Just the Two of Us" ride before the reception!
This is Romance at it's highest! The castle is available for up to 25 comfortably, with other accommodations for remaining guests within 5 minutes. The Historic Chapel is on the grounds of the Castle Estate as well. Available year round and should be booked well in advance. We are taking reservations for 2011 now.
You, as well as guests, can spend a week in France exploring historic castles, local wineries, take tours and experience culinary feasts and cooking classes, plus the Wedding. With current exchange rates, and depending on where you are traveling from, that stay could be approximately $1300 per person...this is NOT a hotel but a large castle with grounds, ensuite bedrooms, large dining areas, small nooks to read in, library to explore and so much more. WHY would you want to stay in a hotel in a small cramped room?
Many couples book the castle for themselves as well as close friends and family, letting those people pay only for their airfare. This is a personal choice and for those who can't take on the accommodation costs themselves, we can work with guests on both air and castle costs per couple or family -- another option. Yet everyone can stay together experiencing castle life for a week. Memories will be made and treasured for a long, long time. Keep in mind that these are self-catering (you do your own cooking...unless you want to hire/cater a cook for perhaps a day or so or even the week). Gourmet kitchens of the 20th Century are yours to enjoy in a 14th Century surrounding!
I was recently contacted by a bride who lives in Ohio - for a Destination Wedding in Charleston, SC, and a Honeymoon in the area following their wedding for two. She has the option of either having the wedding in a beautiful chapel, on the Battery (very historic) or on a beautiful beach very nearby in South Carolina.
It is just the two of them, but they wanted a 2 bedroom close to things to do and yet private. I had the perfect place...a 2 bedroom house right on the Beach with a deck overlooking the beach....a glass of wine in the evening with a spectacular sunset....What more could you wish for?
What I arranged for them is a wedding (their choice for venue), flowers, professional photos AND a video, officiant, and a place to stay for $3700. She is opting for a hairdresser and spa works the day of the wedding, the likes of which we also found for her, almost down the street from their accommodation. They have the option of a horse drawn carriage ride some evening, a sunset dinner cruise on the Charleston River or other fun, interesting, historic choices.
Think of it...getting married in the Historic South, trees packed with hanging moss over the roads on a day trip to Savannah (more history)...or take the train down and back for a day.
This was an option for this Summer because one of them does not fly, a cruise (which was a choice) out of Charleston, Miami, Port Canaveral wasn't in the cards due to the Passport issue and they wanted it to be reasonable in length of time to get to when they will be driving.
They will apply to obtain their marriage license on a Monday and pick it up 24 hours later Tuesday morning, satisfying the local time requirements for a marriage.
So, you see even if you don't want to fly, or don't have a passport...you can still have a Destination Wedding, Florida and South Carolina are beautiful, romantic places to "Tie the Knot".
Another option...if the plane isn't an obstacle but the passport is for short notice weddings or honeymoons.....why not choose the US Virgin Islands? No Passport Required.
Call or Email us today so we can assist you with any of your plans. Whatever you do, sit back, relax and don't let all the plans stress you out.

I recently was contacted by a place in Florida that is perfect for weddings...beach and beach front. You can also book a dinner cruise for two or the whole (small) party on the Yacht. They are within an hour of Orlando and DisneyWorld. You get the best of both worlds. I was pricing a place for up to 8 people.....you get your own pool and it's only (in late July no less) $2650 including taxes with 4 bedrooms. I imagine you can see where you can have the wedding and have guests along who won't mind staying and also spending their vacation in beautiful Florida! That's only $333 per person for a week in a 4 BR Luxury condo with your own pool and lots of other recreation opportunities. I sent out emails to prospective couples earlier today, so you may have seen it. Summer prices now, off season prices later...and if you are thinking of near the holidays, I would not wait.

For those that have already decided on a great Honeymoon escape to Puerto Vallarta (you really will love it - check out the historic church, the beach, neat little sidewalk cafes for beer or a margarita and chips with great salsa). Here is some information about a great music concert taking place in Puerto Vallarta June 20. If you are there, go!
Alejandro Fernandez (also the Jalisco Tourism Ambassador) will perform a Magno Concert along with his friends like Gloria Estefan, Paulina Rubio, Enrique Iglesias, David Bisbal, Luis Fonsi, Reily Barba among others this coming June 20th at “The Malecon” (boardwalk) in Puerto Vallarta.
check the video for more info, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uvOnf5Gycog (I apologize that is only in Spanish) but images speak more than words. Sit back and enjoy the sounds!! If you haven\'t made a reservation to go on a 5-7 night excursion, contact us for a Bride/Groom gift and trip planning.
This note is for brides and grooms looking at Exotic Places for Honeymoons, in keeping with our "need to know" philosophy, this is the latest from the State Department regarding travel: Most particularly regarding Mali, as of this morning (June 4, 2009)
Whether it is due to time, distance or money, you might seriously think of these alternatives for either a Destination Wedding (which your friends and family would also LOVE) or a Honeymoon option:
Due to the current economic situation many couples are open to cruising with family and friends. Many islands make it possible for a legal wedding to take place whiles in port for a few hours. Some of the islands which can accommodate your cruising couple would be.
St.Lucia, St.Kitts, Barbados, Jamaica, Belize, Antigua, St.Maarten Or to travel to the Bahamas and get married on the beach, stay for a week, enjoy the Bahamian culture...great weddings or honeymoons options. Book early for best rates and availability for everyone.

Have a great day!
Just in the last week I have been almost overwhelmed (not quite) with requests for Paris, France! What a place for a honeymoon...exploring the Left Bank, Marais area, Eiffel Tower (you can see forever from the top), Notre Dame, a cup of coffee or glass of wine at a bistro table located on a sidewalk cafe. What more could you ask for?
Then the other is Barbados. A lot of people watch the Bachelor series and see all the beautiful beaches of Barbados...it really is available for people not appearing on TV as well. Almond Resorts in Barbados and St Lucia are running a great special --- 50% off on your honeymoon and a free wedding! (Limited time and this offer will not last long).
Umbria and the border of Tuscany where you can have a one bedroom villa of your own, privacy yet still have the company of others when you want. A pool to relax in and plenty to see and do. You are within driving distance to Florence and Siena. You could take the train up to Rome at the end of your weeklong stay at the Estate to see the Vatican, Spanish Steps and more.
For those who want close to home, think Mexico, the other parts of the Caribbean and Hawaii. All have great specials and many include extraordinary specials for Honeymooners. We offer a discount to Honeymooners and a free gift as well.
Come see what we can help you with!
One of the best bargains comes for couples planning a destination wedding: a free ceremony. Hotel chains like Sandals (Caribbean) and Palace Resorts (Mexico) give couples a complimentary wedding when they agree to spend their honeymoon at the hotel. For a limited time, Almond Resorts in Barbados and St Lucia have 50% off your honeymoon and the wedding is free! (There are others that do free weddings as well, these are just some of the very well known) Sandals requires a seven-night stay at one of its 12 Caribbean properties and includes a basic wedding package that covers the couple and two guests. The cost for a seven-night stay is an estimated $3,500 to $5,000, not including airfare. The details are different at every resort, so couples should look into the number of guests permitted (no children allowed) and add-on packages. If you are including children as part of your wedding party, then choose Beaches for fun and romance. One&Only resorts offers honeymooners a romance package at the One&Only Reethi Rah, which includes five nights in a villa, daily breakfast, a star-lit dinner and luxury-yacht transfers between the airport and the resort. Packages, depending on season, vary from $4,602 to $5,952. Couples with tighter budgets need not overlook these destinations, however. To defray the cost, they can set up a honeymoon registry, through which guests can purchase gifts like a massage for two ($130 per person), a candlelit dinner on the beach ($90) or contribute toward a roundtrip ticket. Such registries can be customized (by you for what YOU want to do) for the destination, so a couple headed to Patagonia can request gifts like a guided tour of a national park or drinks and dancing at a jazz club in Santiago. Depending on which requests are fulfilled, a registry can knock $1,000 to $2,000 off the price of a honeymoon. Finally, just for fun, mention that you are newly married. Often you will find you will get congratulated with a free dinner or a reduced hotel rate. Don’t be shy - let people know that you're a newlywed and suddenly you'll find champagne on your table. And you should consider all-inclusive accommodations for the savings and less hassle (no wallets, no purses needed) and you don’t have to worry about the cost of dinner or that special drink. Couples set on staying at a beachside resort should consider all-inclusive accommodations. At the Paradisus Playa Conchal in Costa Rica, for example, most activities are built into the price of the stay, including snorkeling, a catamaran excursion, beach soccer, sunset walks and a canopy tour of the rainforest. A week-long stay in a deluxe junior suite at the end of November costs roughly $3,000 per couple, excluding airfare.
Out of Africa
Remember “Jaws”? I
think everyone remembers the movie, the “this boat’s not big enough” and the
theme song. In recent years we have
watched Great Whites in our living room in living color with National
Geographic and Discovery Channel specials.
Awesome creatures. Totally
misunderstood by many. Africa is home to the Great White
Shark Alley and from there you can take a day and “swim” with the Great Whites,
and get a DVD of your personal excursion to take home to watch again and
again. Fly into CapeTown, stay in town
or at Hout
Bay, about 15 minutes outside of Cape Town, visit the wine fields of
Africa, take a day to “swim
with Jaws” and take about 4 days to go up to the Kruger Reserve to see the
Big 4, rest and relax in the outdoor pool at VukaVeld
Resort close to the reserve, you may hear the lions at night while you’re
swimming in the pool or having a glass of African wine with dinner. Both places
will sleep 2-4 to a room and can do
groups of 6-8. This is a marvelous 7-10 day excursion for you and/or your
family or a group of friends. This trip
will appeal to adventure seekers, divers and animal lovers.
Other great
luxurious lodges, or safari tent lodging is available throughout Kenya
and Botswana as
well as other areas of South Africa
for out of sight Honeymoons or small groups wishing to explore and see The Big
Five & More.
