Blogs - NikiandEric's blog - PostsOn Friday, which was the day before I headed back to school, our wedding cake topper came in the mail. We opened it and it was so beautiful!
The week before last, I found THE wedding dress! And I got my ears pierced after a lot of convincing from my MOH.
Our cake is going to be 2 layers. The top one for us to keep for our first anniversary and the bottom one just enough for our bridal party. For all the other guests, we will have cupcakes. Ronnie is going to make a cake/cupcake stand out of iron for it! It's going to be really cool.
Over Christmas break, Eric and I were both in Jacksonville for 3 weeks and got some planning done. We went to about 7 venues I think. We liked most of them a lot, but the prices were outrageous at some of them for the little they provided. One place was $1500 for ceremony and then another $1500 for the reception. The catch? They don't provide any chairs, tables, or anything. You have to rent it all and set it all up yourself. It was a very pretty place, but with those prices, it wasn't worth it.
I think we've finally decided to go with Eagle's Bluff Country Club in Bullard, TX. It has a nice patio to get married on and then you walk inside the doors from there and there is the reception area. Both are a good size for the 50-60 guests we are planning on. After a non-member fee, chef fee, white garden chair set up fee, clean up/set up fee, the room for reception and the patio for ceremony, and taxes, it equals to $2,775. They don't allow outside catering so we will be using them for brunch reception. They provide all the tables, chairs, linens, plates, glasses, silverware, etc..
Eric and I have decided to take engagement pictures on our Christmas break, in Dallas, with Amber taking them. She has some really cute ideas. I can't wait!
Today and yesterday I've been online after doing all of my observation hours on my fall break. I decided to go on davidsbridal.com and check out some things. I found some really good ideas/possibilities for guest books, unity candles (if we use one. we haven't talked about it yet), shoes for my maids and also myself, cameras to put on each reception table, cake toppers, and even a couple more bridesmaid dress ideas, even though the wedding isn't for 1 year and 8 months and something. I want to get planning done sooner than later, because that is also the semester I am graduating, so I will already be stressed out enough.

For the ceremony, we are thinking about having a string quartet. Prelude music, Processional, and Recessional. I borrowed a notebook from one of my friends in the NSU Orchestra who has played in a lot of string quartets at weddings. In the notebook were most of the songs he's ever played at weddings. I wrote them all down, and the ones I haven't heard before I'm going to find recordings of them online to listen to.

She usually attends the rehearsal so that she can get an idea of the layout and how the ceremony will be done. With only 60 people and it would be $300. We will get the pictures on a hi-resolution DVD/CD, that way you can decide what you want printed and in what size.
Ashabeth Photography - $500, which includes CDs of all your edited images of full wedding coverage, with 2 photographers shooting.
Beyond Grace Photography - $300, There is no picture limit or time limit. They average with 120 edited pictures from the wedding and reception. They give you a CD with all of the edited pictures on it so that you can print which ever ones you want in whatever sizes at your convenience. wedding, reception, family shots, wedding party, bridesmaids, grooms men. 2 photographers shooting.
There are some more that I am waiting to hear back on what their prices are.

So, Eric and I have started planning a little. The wedding will be June 8, 2013 in East Texas. We're not sure where in east Texas yet though. We've been looking online at different venues in the area and comparing location, prices, sizes, etc.
This is such an exciting time for us, even though he will be in school in Kansas and I'll be in school in Louisiana. We can't wait to start planning for our future together!
