I think this is the best idea I’ve had in awhile! If you haven’t heard of Rent the Runway it’s a very cool website where they rent designer and couture dresses (and now jewelry too!) — prices range from just $50, $75 or $100 to $250 or more. You choose the dress, the block of 4 days you want the dress, and two sizes. And you can also rent a second dress for just $25 more.
I am thinking this would be a perfect way to get gorgeous, fun, trendy yet inexpensive bridesmaids’ dresses! As long as the dresses you love are available on the weekend of your wedding, your girls can rent the same or complementary styles of awesome dresses. They could wear designer duds worth $500, $800 retail for just $50 or $75. And when the wedding is over, they just drop them in the bag and mail them back — no cleaning or anything!
I love this idea! It’s MUCH less than a bridesmaid would spend and they don’t get stuck with something ugly and taffeta in their closet until enternity.
What do you think? How about all your ladies in this to-die-for coral number from Halston Heritage …
I am loving this handful of cupcake necklaces from JunkandPo! She made these for a birthday party, but wouldn’t they also make darling bridesmaids’ or flower girl gifts in your wedding colors? Contact her for customization and pricing. So sweet -- and affordable too!
![]() If you remember this blog post, http://tinyurl.com/ktufrx, you know I've been on a many-month quest for a light purple Maid of Honor dress ... Well the wedding is now exactly 1 month away, and the J Crew dress I ordered didn't work out (too office-attire-ish). I was starting to get nervous until I wandered into a tiny boutique and spotted this dress on sale. For $9.99! The bride loved the photos I sent and it's a go. And I saved $160. Can't beat that!
I'll wear my hair down and wavy for the wedding, and I must find gold wedges so I don't sink into the sand, but I'm pretty pleased with the final choice! Comment with your thoughts!
I have the task of finding my own Maid of Honor dress for an October 2 wedding. The only stipulation is that it be light purple. You wouldn't believe how impossible it has been to find this color! In summer! However, I saw these 2 dresses this morning on JCrew.com. I love dresses with tiers, so I like the first dress. The second is appealing in that it's easy to wear again (and it's on sale for $50!), but it's linen, so it's more casual. But, this is a small beach wedding (I am the only wedding party member on the bride's side) with mostly family. I would embellish with a cute headband, nice shoes, jewelry, etc.
Thoughts? Comments? Other light purple dresses you can recommend!
Aside from the fact that Ginny and Ed's wedding was pulled off in perfect 1920s Great Gatsby style, I just love the mismatched 'maids dresses, which were all delicately detailed vintage slips. Each dress is unique and stylish and these ladies will REALLY wear them again!

These shrugs from Bonzie are really special and beautiful, perfect for over your maids' dresses for a wedding with vintage style. The duponi silk is incredible, and she makes them in every color.
Wouldn't this Stained Glass Necklace from Anthropologie make the perfect bridesmaids' gift? I think so! It's colorful (it comes in green, gray, and yellow, as well as purple, below), pretty, and earthy. And while Anthropologie can get a bit pricey, this gorgeous find is only $42! (Maybe I'll get one for myself, *wink*)
If you don't know about discount designer fashions from Bluefly.com, you're probably living in a cave somewhere ... and now they've introduced a special site, just for weddings! Whether you're a guest, groosman, or the Mother of the Bride, you can find just what you need to look amazing -- and save money, of course. Here is my favorite pick for a bridesmaids' dress that they will really, truly want to wear again (Nicole Miller, $230). The magenta color is gorgeous, and the cap-sleeve, sweetheart neckline, and runching will be so flattering on girls of every size and shape. Your 'maids will thank you.
